You may be wondering.......
Where am I based?
I work face to face only in Liverpool City Centre. I can discuss days and times I am available so we can find the best time for you.
I think counselling would help but I feel nervous
This feels like a big step, because it is, I remember feeling the same when I contacted my own Counsellor, Like anything new, it can be a bit nerve wracking, but I'm aware you are nervous and that's OK. .......
What if I don't know where to start?
That's OK too. We can use some time in the first session to settle in, and If you're still feeling a bit stuck, that's something we can start with. We go at your pace....
How many sessions will I need?
The length of time is you spend in counselling is entirely your choice. You may like to set a number of sessions at the start, or you may prefer to see how it goes. Either way we can review our work at regular intervals and/or discuss your needs as we progress to find what's best for you.
Will anyone else know what I talk about?
Confidentiality is a non negotiable part of my code of ethical conduct. What you talk about stays with me. There are some exceptions to confidentiality though, so anything you disclose that may relate to certain criminal activities or reveals that vulnerable people may be at risk may need to be addressed differently.
Also as part of my ethical conduct, I must take part in my own supervision, with a qualified Counselling Supervisor to ensure I am working with you to the best of my ability. During my Supervision sessions, I will discuss the work we do, but I will not disclose any information that would identify you.
How much do sessions cost?
Our sessions will be an hour long and cost £50, paid by bank transfer before each session. Ideally, we would work together each week, but we can discuss any flexibility you might need once we make contact.
How will I know if you're the right Counsellor for me?
A trusting therapeutic relationship is vital for successful therapy and I want you to find that. Ultimately, you may not know for sure until we work together, but a little suggestion that may help is to pay attention to how you feel when you read my website. Maybe ask yourself what you need and write it down before you reach out to me. When we email/speak, listen to my answers. Are they the ones you were hoping to hear? If they are, that's a good place to start....
What happens after I contact you?
I will reply back to you by email so we can discuss the availability of us both depending on the day and time you need and then arrange an introductory phone call. This is an informal call so that I can give you more information on how I work, and you can ask any other questions I haven't answered here. It gives you a chance to see if you feel comfortable taking to me and so we can decide together if I might be the right Counsellor for you. You can then take some time to make a decision and come back to me at a later date, or if you decide to go ahead, we can book in your first session.
